Thrifty Nifty

Hello Gorgeous! Today is Glamoweeeennnn!!! I am not talking about Halloween today but I will however, share some amazing places around Dallas where you can find clothing and accessories at a steal. I love shopping designer items and I am always looking out for opportunities to buy quality pieces.
I have learned that sometimes your best bet to snag a quality designer piece is well, second hand.
I love the thrill of thrift shopping because you never know what you will find.

Here are some tips to help you stay focused when shopping at a thrift shop or Resale Shop.

  1. Scout your closet first and make a list of items you need. EX: work dresses, more tops to wear with blue pants or yellow skirt, etc... you get the idea... This is key to do because it will save you money and help you stay focused.
  2. When at the shop, things are typically organized by either color or item (ex: skirts, outerwear, dresses). If you like designer items like me, always scout the "Boutique Section" of the shop first. That is where they typically keep the better name brand clothing.
  3. You need to have patience!!! Try to go on a day that you don't have much planned because finding the right piece may take a while.
  4. Give clothes an opportunity. Just because it doesn't look appealing on the hanger, doesn't mean it won't look good on you. Remember, sometimes the tailor is our best friend. If you love something but doesn't fit exactly as you wished, that's when the tailor can use their magic.
  5. Don't buy things just to buy. Remember, if you buy it in hopes that you will use it later, it probably is not going to happen.
Lately I have been loving Thrift City Richardson. They have several locations throughout Dallas and the stores are very well organized. The best days to shop here are during the week.
Another shop that I found, which is a secret gem is B & B Resale. It's nestled between a shopping center on Coit Rd.  Half of the store is a furniture consignment store and the other half is a Resale Shop. You can find designer items here like Marc Jacobs and Prada to name a few.
One of my all time favorites are The Goodwill Stores. They have come a long way and they are now designed like a boutique shop. I like scouting different ones and I always find something on each of the stores. Goodwill puts out new items daily so you may go everyday of the week and you may find something that is waiting for you.

Enjoy your Thrifty Nifty Sessions and let me know what you find.
